Join acclaimed Hollywood screenwriter and director Bob Dolman for an exclusive seminar in Stockholm.

With a career spanning decades, Dolman has worked as a Hollywood screenwriter and director for many years and has won two Emmys for his scrips. He has written the screenplay to Willow directed by Ron Howard and produced by George Lucas. He has also written the screenplay and been a co-producer on the film Far and Away with Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. Lately, he has written for the TV-series Willow which aired on Disney Plus.

The key to any interesting film or TV-series is motivation. In this seminar Bob Dolman will guide actors, directors and writers through the process of creating layered, authentic characters that resonate with audiences. He will also explain how to use drama and conflict to create compelling stories that audiences will become invested and engaged in.

Writers, actors and directors are students of motivation. They have to be, because motivation is at the heart and soul of all story telling. Without motivated characters, a story, a movie, a TV series, falls flat. But when characters are inspired and driven by their desires, a story comes alive with conflict, suspense and wonder.

In this evening talk, we will discuss how motivation can electrify the story you are writing, the character you are playing, or the film you are directing. I will draw from my own experiences as a writer and a director, and what I’ve learned from the very talented filmmakers that I’ve had the privilege to work with.

And just as important—let’s dive into our personal motives as creative artists, and ask ourselves why we are doing what we’re doing. It’s a question we’ll worth examining, for what is motivating you will affect the stories you want to tell, and the way you are going to tell them.

It’s a practical matter, too, when you really get down to it. We are productive, and do our best work, when we want to do it for the very best of reasons. Then: we are unstoppable.

Knowing what your main character wants in the story you’re telling can often be they key to understanding who that character is.

What your heroic main character wants must be opposed by what your antagonist wants. The tension between these two forces generates the plot of your story.
