Join acclaimed Hollywood screenwriter and director Bob Dolman for an exclusive seminar in Stockholm.

With a career spanning decades, Dolman has worked as a Hollywood screenwriter and director for many years and has won two Emmys for his scrips. He has written the screenplay to Willow directed by Ron Howard and produced by George Lucas. He has also written the screenplay and been a co-producer on the film Far and Away with Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. Lately, he has written for the TV-series Willow which aired on Disney Plus.

It has been said that plot is the soul of drama, and that without a plot there is no story: no film, no TV series, no play, no novel. So, in this three-hour seminar we’re going to examine what a plot is, why plot is essential to story-telling, how plot works together with character development, and how much fun it is to write when you have a plot that's driving you and your story forward.

And you will find that the more you understand plot, and how to build a plot, the more support you will have as you are writing. It’s like having a road to drive on, or tracks to run a train on. But it’s more exciting than just a straight line: a well-crafted plot engages an audience’s attention from the beginning of a movie, let’s say, right to the end—and it also engages you, the writer, when you are in the heat of getting your story down on the page or screen. The plot is leading you in a creative chase!

Many writing struggles can be alleviated when you know how to plot. To put it another way, writers are often creatively blocked because they don’t have a plot to guide them. In my own experience, I have floundered without a plot to guide me, and I’ve succeeded when I’ve done the plotting that every good story requires.

Also, while writing the screenplay for Willow, I learned a great deal about plotting from George Lucas, who produced the movie and passed along lots of his experience and wisdom to me. Lucas is a master plotter, and I will share with you many elements of plotting that I learned from him.
